Celebrate 50 Years in Space at Kennedy Space Center

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is celebrating NASA’s 50 Years in Space with the inaugural World Space Expo and the first-ever Kennedy Space Center Fall Concert Series in November. Five weekends of activities are planned to celebrate five awe-inspiring decades of space exploration.

World Space Expo kicks-off the celebration with festivities scheduled Thursday, November 1 through Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Orlando, Florida. World Space Expo is four days of discovery to celebrate mankind’s 50 years in space.  Experience the thrill and power of America’s flight capability in a weekend air show featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the new F-22 Raptor, F-15 Eagle, F-18 Super Hornet, 920th Rescue Wing and the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights.

Hear from Astronauts John Glenn, Scott Carpenter and a host of other space pioneers in the World Space Amphitheater.  View rarely-seen artifacts including an actual Russian Vostok space capsule, and displays of today’s space program at the Space Florida Commercial Space Pavilion.  Celebrate NASA’s 50th anniversary with special displays and interactive activities at the NASA Pavilion.  World Space Expo is co-sponsored by Space Florida and Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism.  World Space Expo activities are included with regular admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

The second celebration weekend launches the first-ever Fall Concert Series at Kennedy Space Center on Saturday, November 10. The stars will be shining as the 1970’s rock band “Kansas” opens the series with a live, outdoor concert in the Visitor Complex’s iconic Rocket Garden. Live concerts are scheduled every Saturday afternoon for four weeks through December 1.
